GoSolarIndex
FTC Compliance & Editorial Ethics

Affiliate Disclosure

Transparency is central to everything we do at GoSolarIndex. In compliance with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guides concerning the use of endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), this page explains how we earn revenue and our strict commitment to editorial independence.

How We Fund GoSolarIndex

GoSolarIndex is an independent research platform founded by Aditya Patil. We do not charge subscription fees, and our 9 interactive solar calculators, 51 state solar guides, and comparison databases are 100% free for the public.

To fund web hosting, automated data pipelines, continuous state utility rate monitoring, and ongoing research, we participate in affiliate marketing programs. This means that when you click on certain product links (for example, portable power stations, solar cables, battery expansion units, or mounting accessories) and make a purchase, GoSolarIndex may receive a small commission from the merchant.

Crucially, this commission comes at absolutely no additional cost to you. In many cases, our negotiated partner agreements provide readers with exclusive discount codes or promotional pricing.

Our Editorial Independence Pledge

Commercial partnerships never compromise our data, calculations, or recommendations. We operate under four strict editorial rules:

1. Formulas Are Never Altered

No affiliate partner can purchase higher efficiency scores, shorter estimated payback periods, or inflated battery runtime numbers in our calculators. All math is open-source and governed strictly by physics and published specs.

2. No Paid Reviews or Favorable Placements

We do not accept paid placements, sponsored reviews, or compensation to alter our product evaluations. If a product exhibits high failure rates, inefficient inverters, or inferior warranty terms, we state so clearly.

3. Objective Benchmarking

Our hardware comparisons (such as EcoFlow vs Jackery or Tesla Powerwall 3 vs Enphase IQ 5P) evaluate products based on verifiable engineering metrics: cost per usable kilowatt-hour, surge wattage, cycle life, and thermal chemistry.

4. Equal Coverage

We regularly analyze and recommend high-quality equipment that offers no affiliate program whatsoever if it represents the superior engineering solution for consumers.

Affiliate Programs We Participate In

GoSolarIndex participates in several verified merchant affiliate programs, including:

  • Amazon Associates Program: GoSolarIndex is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
  • Direct Manufacturer Programs: We may partner directly with reputable clean energy and power storage manufacturers (including EcoFlow, Jackery, Bluetti, and Anker) through established affiliate networks.

How to Identify Affiliate Links on Our Site

We believe in conspicuous, upfront disclosure. On any page containing affiliate links:

  • An affiliate disclosure notice appears prominently at the top of the article or product comparison table.
  • Outbound retail purchase links are tagged with appropriate rel="sponsored nofollow" attributes in accordance with Google Search quality guidelines.
